The Weill Cornell Women in Global Health Research Initiative to Host 10th Annual Scientific Symposium

The Women in Global Health Research Initiative (WGHRI) will host its 10th Annual Scientific Symposium at the Weill Cornell Medicine campus in Manhattan. This year’s symposium, titled Emerging Issues in Global Women’s Health, , will feature a keynote address by Dr. Carmen Logie, Canada Research Chair in Global Health Equity and Social Justice with Marginalized Populations, and Professor at the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work, University of Toronto. The event will bring together experts in the field and will include a panel discussion on maintaining women’s health as a research priority. Over the past decade, the WGHRI symposium has been a hallmark of the Center for Global Health, uniquely dedicated to advancing global women’s health. Past WGHRI symposia have featured keynote addresses from leading experts in the field, including Dr. Laurie Glimcher (2015, former Dean of Weill Cornell Medicine), Dr. Judith Currier (2018, then Chair of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group), and Dr. Monica Gandhi (2019, Associate Division Chief of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine at UCSF) – each of whom have made significant contributions to the field.
This year, the WGHRI will also introduce the inaugural cohort of the Women’s Infectious Disease Global Scholars (WINGS) program. Building on the foundation of the Female Global Scholars program, WINGS is a two-year leadership and career development program designed to train and support the next generation of leaders in global infectious diseases and women’s health. This program is supported by NIH R25 AI 183323.
