Dr. Molly McNairy receives the Dr. Lila A. and Benedict Wallis Prize for Women's Health Research

The Dr. Lila A. and Benedict Wallis Prize for Women's Health Research was founded in 2000 to recognize outstanding research in women's health. This year, the prize was awarded to joint winners, Dr. Molly McNairy and Dr. Line Malha. 

Dr. Molly McNairy is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine, with the Center for Global Health and the Division of General Internal Medicine. Her research focuses on improving health care for resource-poor populations in Haiti and Africa, particularly for HIV and cardiovascular diseases.

As a finalist for the prize, Dr. McNairy presented her work on "Community Cohort Care: A novel model of HIV care for Adolescent Girls in Haiti." This cohort model of care aims to address the multiple factors that influence the retention of HIV-infected adolescent girls in Haiti by placing girls in cohorts of 5-10 peers who meet monthly for integrated HIV care. In these group visits, girls form close peer relationships and receive social support in a community space designed to minimize social isolation, stigma, and rejection often faced by adolescents living with HIV.
