Haitian Actor Jimmy Jean-Louis and GHESKIO Make History in Cannes

On July 12th 2021, award-winning Haitian actor and philanthropist Jimmy Jean-Louis recognized GHESKIO’s work at a special reception during the Cannes Film Festival in France. Jean-Louis spoke about the recent assassination of President Jovenal Moïse and requested a moment of silence for the former president.

Jean Louis highlighted his collaboration with GHESKIO, stating "GHESKIO is a global leader in public health. The organization operates a network of clinics throughout Haiti. They've been the number one group in Haiti to fight against infectious diseases including HIV, Cholera and now Covid 19 and we couldn't be happier to bring awareness to this important cause.”

Mr. Jean Louis was born in Pétion-Ville, Haiti, and was named Ambassador-at-Large to Haiti by Haiti’s president in 2014. He is now GHESKIO’s first Ambassador, working to raise the visibility of medical, social, and economic needs in Haiti and GHESKIO’s efforts to address them. GHESKIO is an international leader in clinical care and research for HIV, tuberculosis, and other infectious and chronic diseases. GHESKIO’s founder, Dr. Pape, is one of nine members of the newly formed Science Council of the World Health Organization, where he will advise the organization about priorities and emerging global health issues.
