Dr. Roger Glass Visits GHESKIO

Dr. Roger Glass and Dr. Jean Pape

In January, Dr. Roger Glass the Director of the Fogarty Internation Center met with Dr. Jean Pape, Dr. Warren Johnson, and Dr. Dan Fitzgerald from the GHESKIO and the Center for Global Health, in Haiti, as well as their Fogarty trainees, who gave presentations about the projects that they are working on. Dr. Glass wrote about the significant impact that the research in Haiti has had and the implications that it can have going forward. The work that is being done on medical issues like multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) could greatly benefit patients in the United States and around the world with more effective and affordable treatment. Another project includes the development of a vaccine for chikungunya, which may come to the U.S. from the Carribean and abroad.
