December 2009--GHESKIO/ WCMC Study Featured at World Bank's World AIDS Day Event

December 1, 2009- The World Bank celebrated World AIDS Day on Tuesday with a conference at the Washington D.C. headquarters highlighting the role of nutrition in AIDS illness, and reaffirming the World Bank's committment to funding effective HIV/AIDS programs. 

Dr. Bill Pape, Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and Executive Director of the GHESKIO Centers in Haiti, presented a new study from GHESKIO/WCMC which "provides the first-ever clinical evidence linking hunger to immune dysfunction and lower numbers of white blood cells, showing the combined impact of poverty and hunger on people living with HIV."
