Cholera Vaccination Program Underway at GHESKIO
In collaboration with Partners in Health (PIH), GHESKIO is beginning the cholera vaccination program that will vaccinate 50,000 people in communities neighboring the clinic in Port-au-Prince. PIH will vaccinate another 50,000 people in rural areas around the Artibonite River Valley. The hope is that this small pilot project will garner support from the Haitian government and other international agencies to rally behind a bigger campaign. U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, visited Haiti this week, with a stop at GHESKIO, to show support for the cholera vaccination program.
