Chelsea Clinton presents at Weill Cornell Global Health Grand Rounds

Chelsea Clinton was the featured speaker at the Weill Cornell Global Health Grand Rounds on May 22.  Her talk titled, "Changing the Model: The Work of the Clinton Health Access Initiative" detailed the history of the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and their unique approach to partner with governments of developing countries to strengthen local health systems.  By identifying barriers within a health system and developing strategies to overcome them, CHAI helps governments ensure that existing drugs, services and life-saving interventions reach those in need.

One of the most critical shortages in health care across the world is a lack of trained health workers.  CHAI’s program in Rwanda, Human Resources for Health, is developing new strategies to address this shortage by training, hiring, and retaining health workers in the local health system.

CHAI’s work in over 70 countries is helping to ensure that investments in global health result in sustainable improvements and, most importantly, in lives saved.
