Center for Global Health Receives NIH Fogarty Funding for Global Health Fellowships
The WCMC Center for Global Health has received NIH Fogarty funding as a consortium with Vanderbilt University, Duke University, Emory University and Weill Cornell Medical College to train medical students and health professional post-doctoral fellows in global health research. Support is provided for one year (stipend, travel, supplies) to conduct research at one of our international sites (Haiti; Tanzania; Brazil). The ideal candidate is a physician scientist who has conducted laboratory T32 supported research here in NY for 2 or 3 years and wants to translate that work in the field. For more information and application materials, please visit Vanderbilt’s Fogarty Global Health Fellowships website.
In the latest issue of Global Health Matters, Dr. Roger I. Glass, the Director of the Fogarty International Center, discusses the importance of research fellowships in low-resource countries and the impact these opportunities have on the careers of young physician-scientists.
