AIDS Care Continues
In addition to supporting a field surgical hospital and a refugee camp for thousands of earthquake victims, GHESKIO continues to provide life-saving medications to thousands of AIDS patients. We had an emergency plan in place prior to the earthquake for continued delivery of HIV medications in the event of a hurricane or political unrest. Yesterday, 900 HIV-positive patients who were due for medication refills either came to GHESKIO or one of our other designated emergency delivery sites. Dr. Patrice Severe, one of GHESKIO's senior physicians, announced on the popular Haitian RadioCaraibes that GHESKIO is fully operational―providing both relief to refugees and continued medical care to those who have counted on us for years.
