Weill Bugando School of Medicine's Class of 2017

Weill Bugando School of Medicine and the Catholic University for Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS) in Mwanza, Tanzania, held its 10th Graduation Ceremony to commemorate its 2017 graduating class. The Class of 2017 includes 144 graduates with diplomas in the health sciences, 62 graduates with Bachelors degrees, 138 Doctors of Medicine (MD) graduates, 15 Masters of Medicine (MMED) graduates, and 2 PhD graduates. 

Dr. Benson Kidenya was one of two PhD graduates this year, from Weill Bugando School of Medicine's Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. His doctoral studies focused on the epidemiology, genetic diversity, and drug resistance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates from North-western Tanzania. Dr. Kidenya continues to work with Dr. Mshana at Weill Bugando, and Dr. Daniel Fitzgerald and Dr. Oksana Ocheretina on his research.
