Road to Recovery: Primary School Graduation

Kervens Noel was just two years old when the 2010 earthquake devastated his home in the Cite Soleil neighborhood of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. In the chaotic aftermath of the earthquake, Kervens was taken to a hospital for care but was separated from his mother. For 3 weeks his mother searched for him. With the help of Dr. Vanessa Rouzier, the Chief of Pediatrics at GHESKIO, Kerven’s and his mother were reunited. Kervens’ left leg had to be amputated, but after a desperate search, he was home with his family. Kervens went through physical therapy at GHESKIO and in June 2013, he graduated from the Prince Albert of Monaco Primary School on the GHESKIO campus.

See the original story of Kervens reunion with his mother at the Washington Post.
